Online

We know that some people prefer online services so that they can access support where and when they like. We have a number of self-guided and online services available.

Silvercloud

SilverCloud is an online platform which provides computerised cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

Benefits

  • Regular support from a therapist: guiding you through the process, checking your progress, giving feedback and support, and answering questions.
  • Flexibility: you can complete the modules in your own time and at your own pace to apply the techniques you learn in your day-to-day life.
  • Works around your life: SilverCloud works well for those who find it challenging to attend traditional one-to-one appointments.
  • Results: 80% of SilverCloud users show improvement in their depression and anxiety symptoms.

Side by Side

You may prefer to have support from people going through similar struggles and connect from home, day or night.

Online community Side by Side provides 24/7 support for people experiencing low mood and depression. It is a support community where you can listen, share and be heard.

It is free to register and for anyone aged 18 or older.

Side by Side is moderated by Mind and protected by community guidelines.

Togetherall

From 1 July 2024, the Trust changed the way we offer online support for anxiety and low mood in Cornwall.

We no longer offer services through Togetherall.

Instead, people in Cornwall will be able to connect with others, share experiences and access online peer support via Side by Side (see dropdown box above).

Alternatively, you could access online self-guided therapy courses from Silvercloud (see dropdown box above).

There are other mental health services and support provided by the NHS.

  • To talk to someone about your feelings of low mood and depression, speak to a member of the Talking Therapies Team.
  • To access support from our Community Mental Health Team, call 01208 251 300.

Ieso

As part of our work to improve services for people needing support with their mental health, the Cornwall and the Isle of Scilly Talking Therapies Team have been working with ieso to provide typed therapy to adults aged over 18.

Ieso’s fully qualified therapists have been helping people with their mental health through confidential, one-to-one, typed conversations. The online approach is making therapy more accessible, particularly for people who want to access therapy outside regular hours or do not want to speak to someone in person.

Patients have told us that typed therapy makes it easier to be open and reflect on their thoughts and behaviours than if they were sat in front of a therapist.

How does it work?

  • Once someone has referred into and been accepted by the service, they will take part in an assessment. Depending on their needs and preferences, they might be offered the typed service through ieso.
  • The person would then be offered a 45 to 60-minute appointment with a trained therapist. Appointments are available from 6am to 11pm, 7 days a week.
  • People take part in 1-2-1 typed therapy sessions on a weekly basis.
  • People might be set tasks between sessions. They can contact therapists between sessions to get support with these tasks.
  • People learn practical cognitive behavioural therapy techniques to use in daily life.

The benefits

  • Flexible patient choice: with appointments at any time of day or night, ieso currently see 65% of patients outside working hours.
  • No travel required: accessible from anywhere. Patients only need a device that connects to the internet.
  • Life friendly: people can access therapy in their own time. Ieso fits sessions around patient commitments.
  • Support between sessions: patients can message their therapist in-between sessions for support with tasks.
  • Guidance beyond therapy: learn practical CBT skills to use in day-to-day life.

Waiting times

Within 5 working days of receiving your referral, you will be contacted by a member of our Admin Team. They will arrange your initial telephone assessment appointment with one of our therapists.

Once confirmed, your appointment details will be emailed or posted to you and will include further information about what to expect.

There may be times when we would need to discuss transferring your care with other services if we are not the appropriate service to meet your needs. If you do not hear from us after 5 days, call us on 01208 871 905 or email the Talking Therapies Service. The team will respond Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm.

We expect 12,500 people to access talking therapies a year across a range of services. We assess 93% of people within 6 weeks. Some services receive more referrals than others and these median waiting times give you a guide as to what you can expect.
