People with the greatest needs will have services tailored to meet them
People from disadvantaged sections of our society and those with protected characteristics for example black and minority ethnic groups, the traveller community and the LGBTQ+ community can be isolated and discouraged from seeking the healthcare they need. Our services need to communicate a sense of openness and welcome to all people in our society. This means we will have to make a special effort to deliver services that all people, especially those from impoverished or potentially marginalised communities, can access.
This approach is at the heart of reducing health inequalities. We know we must seek out avoidable impacts not only in access to care, but also in the experience of care and therefore the outcomes achieved.
We will work in partnership with public health colleagues in Cornwall Council to fully understand the needs of the population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We will test ourselves to ensure that we continue to improve our approach to the needs of the most vulnerable.
